Entry#12
This chapter, Gift for the Darkness, in Lord of the Flies was very dark and disturbing. I found it very unsettling because the description and the way the characters acted. Jack has removed himself from a group with Ralph so now instead of one tribe it is unnerving to see what exactly will happen with two. As well Jack is terrifying in a way because he is very violent and doesn't care about what people say. In this chapter alone he brutally murdered a sow in a gruesome way. Then he raided the other "tribe" for their fire and he is trying to get all the boys on his side instead of Ralph's. Then everything that is going on with Simon is mysterious. He is having hallucinations that are confusing and you wonder why he is having these hallucinations. I have no idea why but I hope to find out soon.

Entry #11
I did not like this chapter of Lord of the Flies. It was horrible in my opinion because it ruined my interest completely. I was very interested in which what Sam and Eric thought was the beast but when it was revealed it was a man from a fighter plan who ejected from their plane and was in a parachute I was disappointed. I personally believe the author should have continued on with the whole beast aspect it was more interesting to read about. The chapter before left you hanging, and this chapter was very disappointing because the beast was not as it seemed. I wonder if their is actually a beast or not. I wish they didn't introduce this man in the parachute. If it is necessary to introduce this character I wish they did it in a different way.

I loved this chapter! It completely made me rethink my previous thoughts. I was surprised that more then one person saw the beast at a time. It truly shows the character of people and who is the strong and who is the weak. The way that the author made Sam and Eric see the beast was very well done. It drew suspense but it was for the perfect amount of time it did not drag on the pause for suspense. It makes me believe that there may actually be a beasty because people began to see things in their head. Now since two people saw this beast at once I believe more in it. I am beginning to wonder what does this beast look like? What is the beast? Where is the boy with the mulberry coloured birthmark? This chapter drew me in and it's making me want to read on so I can find out more.

I found this chapter very insightful in to how the boys are feeling. I was surprised that everyone is terrified of the "beasty". I began to notice how all the boys see this creature. Some of the boys say they see the beast in the trees, other say from the water. The one I was most interested in was Simon's take on the beast. He believed the beast doesn't actually exist in the world the beast is us. He began to say the beast is a made up figure of there imagination. I like the way he said this and I agree with him in this statement. It was an interesting point that I would never think of but now I believe what he is saying. I am confused about why all the boys disagree with Simon"s train of thought. I really liked this chapter because of the insight into the characters.

This chapter of Lord of the Flies is my favorite chapter yet. I really enjoyed how the group saw a chance of survival so it is possible they will see another sign of human life again. It also showed peoples main concern. Piggy and Ralph are very mad because they could have got off the island if it wasn't for Jack's crazed obsession to kill a pig. Since Jack and all his hunters didn't see if the fire was lit up I think there should be consequences. Sure they did get meat but if it wasn't for them they would be safely off the island eating other meats.I think they need to have some sort of punishment for not doing there specific job. This event caused Ralph and Jack's friendship or alliance break. I am also disappointed that all of these boys do not realize that Jack isn't a good leader and they cannot continue listening to him what he is doing is killing their only chance at survival. I think everyone needs to fulfill their duties on the island and if they don't they need to be punished. This was a fantastic chapter.

I enjoyed this section of Lord of the Flies. I finished chapter three and it is very good. You can see how the boys begin to have conflict and who thinks what is more important in there new life on the island. Jack and his hunters only want meat and are constantly hunting even though they haven't caught anything yet. I can tell this is making Ralph mad because he wants to do all these other things to help get them set up and start a community. I think the group made a smart choice by appointing Ralph as the leader because he is doing his best to make sure they have all their needs met. However, I believe it is unfair that barely anyone is helping Ralph set up all of the huts on the beach. I am beginning to like this book because of this new person versus person conflict.

In this section I noticed how the leadership roles began to play out. I began to see that the boys are very rude and unkind to Piggy they have no respect for him at all. I am sympathetic to Piggy because of the way they treat him; they do not listen to his ideas at all. As well, anything that the boys need from Piggy they just take it without regard for his feelings, like when they took his glasses.I also think the boys really need to think out what they do before the do it because they almost burnt down the entire island.I think they need to really focus on there situation and realize everyone is equals in this situation. They really need to see how every action they make is going to have a reaction and they need to think about the reaction is going to be. I do not enjoy this book right now because it is slow but I hope it picks up.

I believe that people do the right thing to make themselves feel better. When I see someone else feel bad I myself feel bad because of empathy and sympathy. So when I see someone else feel hurt or sad I will start to feel bad for them and I have an urge to make them feel better. I help others feel better and I do the right thing so I will feel good. I constantly feel guilty if I do not to the right thing and help someone out.

In my opinion bullying is created by people who have some hatred towards themselves and their lives. They either take this anger out on themselves or out on other people. When they take this aggression out on other people. Bullying will not stop because a lot of the time all of people problems in their lives are built up so much they cannot stop being mean until they themselves feel better. There is a big difference between male and females approach to bullying. Males often just go any physically hurt each other. Females use an emotional approach they spread and make up rumors and do other things to hurt other people. But the reasons that men and women do bully are very similar. Bullying needs to be stopped.

So far I do not like the book Lord of the Flies by: William Golding. It does not start from the very beginning of there story, so you are really confused about who the characters are in the story and how they got to this island that seems to be in the middle of no where. The way they handle the situation seems rather odd as well they just kind of accept the fact of what has happened to them. But I do enjoy the way the author has portrayed the characters. He has showed the way they all act and how they feel. You could tell the author wanted to develop the way the characters act, feel and really what they are like. You can see this by his in depth description. It is not a great start but I am hoping it will get better quickly.

Entry #2 Memoir
I chose to do the time we were robbed because it made me shape my personality. I now do not trust people like I did then. I had no guard and would trust anyone but now I am more protective of me, my family and my friends. It also really helped me get out my feelings of what had happened. It was a rough period in my life and this memoir helped me get out my emotions. It was really nice to look back and show me how I've changed due to that event.

One memory I have from last years English class is when we did Elizabethan times/Shakespeare. I liked this because we got to do fun projects like adding creativity as part of a presentation or when we changed a Mid-summer Night's Dream into a different version and acted it out. In Law and Order in the Elizabethan times I wrote a paper with my friend and we made stalks. Also when we re-did a Mid-summer Night's dream we acted out as if we were hobos it was fun! I enjoyed the create expression in these projects.
