1. What does Paris want?
Paris wants to be with Juliet and so he asks Capulet for his blessing. He wishes that Juliet will eventually marry him and have children with him.
2. What is Capulet's first response?
Capulet at first doesn't want Juliet to marry since she is not even fourteen. He wants to protect his daughter and he doesn't think she should be wed so young.
3. How does Paris respond to this?
Paris tells Capulet that it is normal for a person her age or younger to be married and even have children.
4. How do you respond to this?
I think that Paris is kind of peculiar to push that people Juliet's age already have children. I do not think Paris and Juliet should be married since she is so young and I understand why Capulet says to Paris she is to young. But the fact that Paris is so persistent and wants to marry Juliet and is saying she is old enough to have kids crosses the line.
5. What does Capulet hope will happen at the party?
At the party Capulet hopes that Paris will see all of the other women and fall in love with someone besides his daughter. Capulet wants Paris to see that their are many available women he could marry.
6. What is Benvolio's hope for the party?
Benvolio is hoping that Romeo will see all of these women around and he hopes that Romeo will see a girl he likes more then Rosaline. He really wants Romeo to feel better and not be so heartbroken and love someone else.
7. Romeo's response?
Romeo doesn't think it is a good idea to crash this party because it is the party held by Old Capulet his families mortal enemy. He fears that if they go it will result in conflict and another fight between the families.
8. Has Shakespeare created an interesting story so far? Explain.
This story so far is very interesting because even though the two families hate each other they are a lot alike. Both children struggle with the idea of love and the parents want to do everything they can to make there children happy. I also enjoy that it got interesting and started-up really quick.
